Priest convicted of abuse, among the most wanted by the Spanish Police

The National Police Force of Spain has included a priest convicted of sexual abuse of minors among the 10 most wanted criminals, in a recent campaign requesting help from citizens in locating him.

This is the Salesian Segundo Cousido Vieites, sentenced to 32 and a half years in prison for abusing six minors in a school in Vigo where he worked as a teacher.

In addition to the sentence of deprivation of liberty, in 2021 another 36 years of supervised freedom and disqualification from any work with minors for 31 years was imposed.

Cousido had to have entered prison on February 27, 2023, but his defense requested a five-day extension for personal reasons, which was partially accepted by the Provincial Court, which granted him a maximum permit of three days with the warning that It was “unavoidable.”

The priest did not appear at the prison facilities, which is why a search and arrest warrant has been issued against him since March 2023.

In the file that the National Police has released, it is detailed that he is 42 years old, has a “thick build” and is 1.80 meters tall, as well as brown hair and eyes. It is also classified as “dangerous”.

The criminal acts for which he has been convicted occurred during a camp with minors who were 15 years old and during a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in 2019.

The sentence was imposed in October 2021 in the first instance and ratified by the Superior Court of Justice of Galicia in May 2022.
