In any case, the Vatican has not clarified whether Pope Leo XIV is expected to move there in summer as Benedict XVI used to do. His predecessor, Pope Francis, resigned to spend the months of July and August in the imposing Villa Pontifical of Castel Gandolfo, a fortified palace of the seventeenth century, on the banks of the Albanian Lake.

The Argentine pontiff used to spend summer in the 201 room on the second floor of Casa Santa Marta, where he usually resided.

In fact, the Pontifical summer complex – located about 40 km from the Italian capital – was transformed into a museum for tourists, although they are only open to the public a few rooms that house showcases with the liturgical ornaments belonging to previous pontiffs, as well as their portraits.

The Vatican has not announced at the moment if during the month of July, Pope Leo XIV will cancel the general public audiences of Wednesday. Normally this month, it is considered rest in the Vatican and, Wednesday public appointments are usually temporarily suspended until August. In that month the only public event is usually the angelus.
