Pope Leo XIV has sent a congratulation telegram to the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, on the occasion of his 84th birthday, which celebrated Wednesday.
In his message, which made public Vatican News, The Pontiff expresses his closeness and esteem towards the Head of State, to whom he assures his prayers “for the high task that he makes in favor of the unity of the beloved Italian nation.”

“I share the joy of this happy occasion with all those around him and accompany him with affection and gratitude for his copy and tireless service to the cause of peace and concord between the peoples,” writes the Holy Father, who recognizes the institutional and human commitment that has characterized Mattarella’s mandate as head of state.
Leo XIV concludes his message entrusting the President “to the maternal intercession of the Virgin Mary and the patron saints of Italy”, while imparting the apostolic blessing, also extending it “to family members, to the collaborators and the whole country.”
