Pope Leo XIV has talked for a few minutes with the head of the government of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, in which the leader of Fratelli d’Italia has congratulated the Holy Father after his choice during the conclave of last week.
In A statement Extended by the Italian government, it is specified that Meloni “stressed the indissoluble link that unites Italy with the Vicar of Christ.”

“Italy values and supports the efforts of the Holy See for Peace and for the cessation of conflicts in all crisis scenarios where weapons have replaced dialogue and understanding,” continues the text released this Thursday, May 15.
Giorgia Meloni reiterated during his conversation with Pope Leo XIV “the availability of Italy to continue working, together with the Holy See, in favor of an ethical development and at the service of the human being of artificial intelligence.”
It is, the Italian government adds, “of a challenge that has been at the center of the Italian presidency of the G7 and whose centrality – for the defense of human dignity, justice and work – was highlighted by Pope Leo XIV during his encounter with the cardinals on May 10”.
