The Archbishop of Mendoza and president of the Argentine Episcopal Conference, Mons. Marcelo Colombo, was received this Monday by Pope Leo XIV, with whom he held a private meeting.
After the meeting, the prelate expressed his joy at having shared “a moment of dialogue with Pope Leo.”

The audience was an opportunity to “get to know him and also establish a conversation with him about the life and mission of the Church in Argentina,” he said in a video message addressed to the faithful, stating that it was a moment of “a lot of fraternity.”
Likewise, the meeting was an occasion to remember the visit of Pope Francis to Peru, when the then Bishop Prevost was bishop of Chiclayo, a trip that Bishop Colombo accompanied, representing the Church in Argentina.
They were also able to reflect together on “the life and mission of the Church in general”, with special attention to the recent jubilees of synodal teams and social movements.
“I leave with a heart full of hope on this path that the Church has begun at the hand of Pope Leo,” concluded the president of the Argentine Episcopate, sending his blessing.
