Mons. Marcelino Antonio Malaban Malamanan Maralit, who was appointed Bishop of San Pablo in September 2024, leaves the headquarters of Boac Vacant since then.

Philippines, with an approximate population of about 115 million inhabitants, is the country of Asia with more Catholics, with more than 81 million baptized faithful. In 2021 the country celebrated the V Centenary of the arrival of faith with the Spaniards.
Part of this inheritance are the names of people, such as that of the elected bishop, born in Lucena, which is called prayer (without tilde), although in the country it is more common for prayer to be a surname, as is the case with the P. Alexander D. Prayerordered priest the same day as the new bishop, on September 8, 1997.
The new Bishop of Boac
Edwin Prayer Pnergo, elected bishop of Boac, was born on September 7, 1971 in Lucena City. He is 54 years old. He studied philosophy at the Major St. Francis de Sales Seminar in Lipa City and Theology at the St. Alphonsus School of Theology in Lucena.
He obtained a degree in guidance and advice at St. Louis University in Baguio City and theology at the Studium of Notre Dame de Vie in veins.
He was ordained a priest on September 8, 1997 for the Diocese of Lucena.
He has played, among others, the following positions: Parish Vicar of the Basilica of San Miguel Arcángel in Tayabas (1997-1998); St. Roche parish priest in Panaon (2000-2002); Spiritual Director of Seminary Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary in Lucban (2004-2009; 2012-2015).
Since 2015 he was rector of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Seminar in Sriaya.
