Pope Leo XIV had lunch with people in need and workers from Cáritas in Albano

Remember that in every human being we found the very presence of God, it was the invitation that Pope Leo XIV made this Sunday before sharing lunch with people in need, refugees and members of the Caritas of Albanian (Italy).

The meeting took place in the gardens of the Pontifical Villas of Castel Gandolfo, after the visit that the Pontiff made this morning to the town of Albano, where he celebrated a Mass in the Sanctuary of Santa Maria Della Rotonda.

In his greeting to the attendees, the Pontiff highlighted the place where lunch took place: Burgus laudato yes, “to remind us of the beauty of nature, of creation.”

This, he added, “also makes us think that the most beautiful creature is that created in a similarity, in the image of God, that we are all of us.”

“And every one of us, in this sense, represents that image of God, and how important it is to always remember that we find this same presence of God in each of us. And so, also, to be gathered here this afternoon, in this lunch, it is to live together with God, in this communion, in this brotherhood,” he said.

Lunch attended more than 100 guests, among the poor assisted by the Caritas of Albanian, residents of the host centers and family houses, homeless people and users of listening centers. Before them, the Pope recalled the importance of sharing “that significant gesture for all of us: to leave the bread, leave the bread together, the gesture with which we recognize Jesus Christ among his people.”

Lunch was organized by the Diocese of Albano in collaboration with the Dicasterio for the Service of Integral Human Development.
