The meditations of Way of the Cross that will take place on Good Friday in the Roman Coliseum this Holy Week 2024 were written in his own handwriting for the first time by Pope Francis under the title: “In prayer with Jesus in the Way of the Cross”.
As detailed Vatican Newsthe texts prepared by the Pontiff will be “an act of meditation and spirituality, with Jesus at the center” which is why he predicts that “the reference to the present will, therefore, be less direct” than that expressed in past years.
The decision to write these meditations would be linked to the Year of Prayer proclaimed by Pope Francis in preparation for the Jubilee of 2025 and would denote a more spiritual character, which will be known on March 29, when the texts are distributed.
