Pope Francis affirmed that “without liturgical reform there is no reform of the Church” during an audience with the members of the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, who were received at the Vatican on the morning of this Thursday, February 8 after finishing its Plenary Assembly.
At the beginning of his speech, Pope Francis referred to the The Holy Councilwhich he defined as “a work of spiritual, pastoral, ecumenical and missionary renewal.”
For the Holy Father, “a Church that does not feel a passion for spiritual growth, that does not seek to speak in a way that is understandable to the men and women of its time, that is not distressed by the division among Christians, that does not vibrate with longing to announce Christ to the nations, it is a sick Church.”
