As is tradition, Pope Francis will travel to a cemetery in the city of Rome to preside over the Mass for the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed, next Saturday, November 2.
This year, he will do it in the Laurentino cemetery of the Eternal City, where he already went six years ago, in 2018.

On that occasion, the Holy Father stopped to pray in the so-called “Garden of the Angels”, an area of the cemetery reserved for deceased children and unborn babies.
Without giving any speech, Pope Francis walked around the children’s graves, offered a bouquet of flowers and prayed in silence for a few minutes.
Last year, however, Pope Francis visited the Rome War Cementeryin the area of Testacciowhere soldiers who lost their lives in World War II are buried
From there, the Pontiff spoke out against the violence of war that affects so many countries today, pointing out that what happened to those soldiers in the last century continues to happen even today.
“The same thing happens today: so many young people and not so young anymore… In the wars of the world, even those closest to us, in Europe and beyond: so many dead! Life is destroyed without being aware of it,” he added.
Since his pontificate began, the Holy Father has visited different cemeteries on the outskirts of Rome. For 3 consecutive years, from 2013 to 2015, he presided over the Mass in the so-called “Campo Verano monumental cemetery.”
He also visited Prima Porta in 2016 and in 2017 the American cemetery in the town of Nettuno, south of Rome.
It is worth remembering that, on Monday, November 4, the Holy Father will preside over the suffrage Mass for the cardinals and bishops who have died during 2024. The Eucharist will be celebrated at 11:00 (local time) in St. Peter’s Basilica.
