Pope Francis will publish the date of canonization of the future San Carlo Acutis on July 1

Pope Francis will preside over a public Ordinary Consistory on July 1 of this year in which, among others, the date on which Blessed Carlo Acutis will be proclaimed a saint will be announced.

The Holy Father approved last May 23 a miracle attributed to the intercession of Blessed Carlo Acutis, the Italian teenager who died at the age of 15 and was beatified in 2020 in Assisi. With this new decree, the young man who deeply loved the Eucharist will be proclaimed a saint.

In the same statement with the decrees approved by the Holy Father, it was also reported that the Pontiff had convened a consistory to determine the dates of canonization of Carlo Acutis and Blesseds Giuseppe Allamano, Marie-Léonie Paradis, and Elena Guerra.

This is the public Ordinary Consistory on some causes of canonization which, as confirmed yesterday by Mons. Diego Ravelli – Master of Pontifical Liturgical Celebrations – will take place next July 1 at 9:00 a.m. in the Vatican.

What is this event about?

The Consistory for the vote on the causes of canonization is an event that brings together the Holy Father and cardinals in the Clementine room of the Apostolic Palace of the Vatican to approve the canonizations of several blesseds.

This is a formal act in which the Pontiff makes public the dates on which the next saints of the Church will be canonized.

After an introductory prayer, the Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, will read a summary about the life and miracles approved through the intercession of the blessed.

Next, after the agreement of the cardinals representing the Catholic Church, Pope Francis will confirm that the canonization of the blessed presented can proceed and will finally indicate the dates on which they will be proclaimed saints.
