So far, all medical tests have indicated the need for continuous monitoring and a therapeutic adjustment in line with their evolution.

Given this diagnosis, the specialists who are treating the Holy Father at the Gemelli Polyclinic Hospital in Rome where he remains admitted since Friday have decided to modify their treatment to address the “complex clinical condition” of the Pontiff more effectively.

According to the Vatican, the state of health of the Holy Father requires prolonged hospitalization to ensure his recovery.

“All tests held so far indicate a complex clinical picture that will require an adequate hospital stay,” said Bruni, although he did not detail how many days Pope Francis must continue to be hospitalized. A new medical part is expected on Tuesday.

The Pontiff remains admitted to the Gemelli Polyclinic of Rome since Friday due to bronchitis that resulted in an airway infection.

However, although Pope Francis has suspended his agenda, he has continued with some of his usual activities, such as his daily calls to the parish of the Sagrada Familia in Gaza to express his proximity to the Christian community and inform himself about the situation of the faithful in the region.

“The Pope called us both Friday and Saturday, he was in a good mood, with his voice a little tired, but wanted to know how we were,” one of those responsible for this church that is the only Catholic reality in the Fringe.

“A partner passed the phone and could talk to us. Yesterday (Sunday February 16) rested and we knew I wouldn’t call, ”he added.

Despite his hospitalization and that doctors have prescribed absolute rest, the Pontiff wanted to maintain this habit, which reflects his commitment to the Christians of Palestine.
