Faced with this dichotomy, Pope Francis invited this Lent to cultivate a spirituality based on sincere prayer and active fraternity. “First of all, with respect to God, praying a lot, like children who, without tiring, confidently knock on the Father’s door,” he urged.
Secondly, he invited us to make more home by “spreading fraternity” in all daily interactions, breaking the walls of “uncomfortable, isolating, sometimes even hostile silence, found in many places.”
”Let us ask ourselves then: first of all, what is my prayer like? Is it a price I have to pay or is it the moment of confident abandonment during which I don’t look at the clock? And what are my relationships with others like? Do I know how to give without expecting anything in return? Do I know how to take the first step to break the walls of silence and the voids of distance? We must ask ourselves these questions,” she concluded.
