“Then – continued the Pontiff – the same Spirit, after having cleansed the interior falsehoods, will give you a new heart, will build your life according to the style of Jesus, will turn you into new creatures and missionary disciples.”
“Your enthusiasm will mature through the cross, as it did with the Apostles. But do not be afraid: it certainly can be tiring work, but if you remain docile and true, available to the action of the Spirit without becoming stagnant or defending yourself, you will discover the tenderness of the Lord within your frailties and in the pure joy of service,” he noted.
“This work of construction that is your formation, dig deep, ‘making truth’ in yourselves with sincerity, cultivating the interior life, meditating on the Word, deepening the study of the questions of our time and the theological and pastoral questions,” the Holy Father advised them.
Likewise, he asked them to work on emotional and human maturity since, he assured, “without it you are not going anywhere.”
