Instead, Pope Francis urged people to follow the example of Jesus, who not only showed compassion toward those who suffer, but also shared their burden. “In suffering, God’s first response is not a speech or a theory, but his walking with us, his being at our side,” the Pope said, highlighting God’s presence in the midst of human pain.
“Jesus allowed our pain to touch him, he walked our same path and does not leave us alone, but frees us from the weight that oppresses us, carrying it for us and with us,” he said.
During his message, he also thanked the parents “for making space in their hearts and in their stories for this Gospel.”
