This Friday, Pope Francis met with Cardinal Raymond Burke, amid a series of reported controversies between the Pontiff and the American cardinal in recent weeks.
A statement released by the Holy See Press Office indicates that the Holy Father met with the 75-year-old cardinal in a private audience on the morning of December 29. No reason was given for the meeting, nor were any details shared about the hearing.
While Cardinal Burke declined to comment on the meeting to CNA, EWTN News’ English-language agency, Reuters approached to the cardinal outside his home in Rome. When asked about the development of the audience with the Pope, the cardinal responded with humor: “Well, I’m still alive.”
