“For this reason,” he expressed, “I urge you to continue being next to the brothers and sisters who are in need, with competence, generosity and dedication, especially at a time when racism and contempt grow like tares.”
The Pontiff also noted that children are among the most vulnerable people and that many of them have arrived in Italy fleeing the war in Ukraine. “You know something? These children don’t smile, they have forgotten the ability to smile. That is bad for a child, let’s think about it,” he said.
Faced with this panorama, Pope Francis called to globalize solidarity, “operating at the national and international level,” because “no context can be said to be free of suffering, free of wounds of the body and soul.”
