Pope Francis has stated that he is “deeply saddened” by the 48 victims left by the 7.6 magnitude earthquake that hit central Japan on January 1.
In a telegram signed by the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, it is reported that the Holy Father regrets “the loss of life and damage caused by the earthquake in the prefecture of Ishikawa”, located on the western coast of the Asian country.
