In his private meeting with more than 800 priests of the Diocese of Rome, Pope Francis referred this January 13 to the declaration Begging for confidenceand assured that in the Catholic Church people are blessed, not sin.
According to collects Vatican News, the official media of the Vatican, in the meeting held in the Basilica of Saint John Lateran, the Holy Father “responded to questions about the blessing of same-sex couples, stating that it does not change the doctrine on the sacrament of marriage between A Man and a Woman. He blesses people, not sin.”
The official Vatican media adds: “To the question of an African priest, he said that the culture of Africa does not accept these blessings because there are different sensitivities and that this was clarified with Cardinal (Fridolin) Ambongo”, Archbishop of Kinshasa and president of the Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM).
