Following the death of Ada Miotti Parolin, who died on August 31 at the age of 96 in Vicenza, Italy, the Holy Father spiritually joined “in the mourning that overwhelms her family.”

In a telegram of condolences sent this Tuesday, September 3, the day of his funeral, the Pontiff also assured them of his closeness “in this special moment of human suffering.”
She also raised her prayers to the Lord “to welcome her into eternal joy” and invoked consolation in faith in the risen Christ.
Finally, Pope Francis sent Ada’s loved ones and all those who mourn her loss his “fatherly blessing.”
It should be noted that Cardinal Parolin planned, as on past occasions, to accompany the Holy Father on his 11-day trip to Asia and Oceania.
The Pontiff set course yesterday, September 2, for what will be the longest Apostolic Journey of his Pontificate.
Due to the death of his mother, which he reported “with pain, but in the faith of Jesus Christ crucified and risen,” Cardinal Parolin will not be able to travel with Pope Francis on this occasion. The Vatican has not yet confirmed whether the cardinal will join later.
