When receiving in audience today at the Vatican the members of the Construction Board of the Expiatory Temple of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona (Spain), Pope Francis highlighted the importance of “not losing the climate of prayer” in Catholic churches.
The Holy Father recalled that this year, in preparation for the Jubilee of 2025, he wanted to “dedicate it to prayer,” and stressed that maintaining the climate of prayer in the churches “must be one of the priorities for those who, like you, “They have received the responsibility of caring for the temples.”
The construction of the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia began in 1882, under the direction of the architectural genius Antoni Gaudí, currently a Servant of God, the first step in a cause for canonization. The magnificent work is expected to be finally completed by 2033.
