This occurred after the Resolution 181 of the United Nations General Assembly, approved in 1947 and which proposed the creation of two States, one Israeli and the other Palestinian. However, the partition of the territory and the establishment of Israel were not accepted by the Arab countries.
Thus, on May 15, 1948, Egyptian, Saudi, Yemeni, Lebanese, Iraqi, Transjordanian, and Syrian soldiers, among others, invaded the new State, triggering the first Arab-Israeli war that culminated in July 1949 with the victory of Israel and the increase of its territory. More than 750,000 Palestinians were displaced to Gaza and the West Bank.
Then came the wars of 1956, 1967 and 1973, the latter known as the Yom Kippur or Ramadan war, whose fifty years were completed on October 6, one day before the Hamas attack.
Another of the main disputes is the status of Jerusalem, the historical capital of the Hebrew people and where not only the wall of what was the Temple of Solomon – the Wailing Wall – but also Christian and Muslim sacred centers are located.
