Pope Francis left the Vatican on the afternoon of Thursday, December 21, to greet the 30 priests of the parish San Giorgio in Acilialocated on the outskirts of Rome and also visited by Pope Paul VI in 1971.
According to Vatican News, the Pontiff referred to this parish as one that works “in misery, in discomfort, in suffering, and therefore present in my heart, by virtue of my mission, which is that of Christ.”
Following in the footsteps of the holy Pope, Pope Francis arrived in this humble area in the south of the Italian capital at 4:30 p.m. (Rome time).
