In a message addressed to the World Rural Forum meeting in the Spanish city of Vitoria these days, Pope Francis underlined “the irreplaceable role of the feminine genius” in the context of family farming.
In the speech read by the Bishop of Vitoria, Bishop Juan Carlos Elizalde, the Pontiff points out that “rural women represent a safe compass for their families, a firm support point for the progress of the economy, especially in developing countries. , where they are not only beneficiaries, but true drivers of the progress of the societies in which they live.”
Pope Francis has also valued families dedicated to agriculture as “commendable for the supportive way of their work, as well as for the respectful and delicate style with which they cultivate the land.”
