At the conclusion of the Sunday Angelus prayer in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican, Pope Francis praised the “apostolic zeal” of the new Mexican blessed Fr. Moisés Lira Serafín, and encouraged him to be an encouragement especially to priests.
Father Moisés Lira Serafín, founder of the congregation of the Missionaries of Charity of Mary Immaculate and died in 1950, was beatified on Saturday, September 14 at the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico City, in a ceremony presided over by Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, prefect of the Vatican Dicastery for the Causes of Saints.

One of his best-known phrases is that “it is necessary to be very small to be a great saint,” and during the Mass it was recalled that one of the testimonies collected during his cause asserts that “his source of joy was doing the will of God, like Jesus.”
Pope Francis recalled today that Blessed Moisés Lira Seraphim dedicated his life “to helping people progress in faith and love of the Lord.”
“May his apostolic zeal stimulate priests to give themselves without reservation for the spiritual good of God’s holy people. A round of applause for the new Blessed! I see the Mexican flags there,” he said.
