The message states that “Pope Francis has received with deep sadness the news of the loss of human life and injuries caused by the attack” and assures his “spiritual closeness.”

Pope Francis also commends “the souls of the deceased to the loving mercy of almighty God” while “praying for the healing and consolation of the wounded and bereaved.”
