Pope Francis encourages the faithful of Guatemala to celebrate the Eucharist after the National Eucharistic Congress

Pope Francis encouraged the faithful of Guatemala who participated in the National Eucharistic Congress to “Eucharistize” upon returning to their homes.

Within the framework of this event of the Catholic Church, which took place from July 10 to 14 in Los Altos Quetzaltenango – Totonicapán, the Holy Father wrote a letter signed by the Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin.

In his letter, published by the Episcopal Conference of GuatemalaPope Francis expressed his gratitude for this event “dedicated to renewing faith and devotion to the Blessed Sacrament.”

Likewise, he invited the participants to “Eucharistize” upon returning to their homes, “announcing to everyone the good news of the living and life-giving presence of Jesus Sacramented in our midst.”

He also encouraged them to continue “deepening in Eucharistic spirituality, being builders of unity in charity and joyful witnesses of the hope that does not disappoint.” Finally, the Pontiff asked them to pray for him and gave them his apostolic blessing.

The program of the National Eucharistic Congress of Guatemala, which was held for the first time in 70 years, included plenaries, talks, catechesis and culminated with the celebration of the Holy Mass.

The country’s bishops stressed that the Eucharist is “the best food on the path to God” and “the first place of encounter with the living Jesus Christ.”
