At the opening of the 95th judicial year of the Vatican City State Court, Pope Francis focused his speech on courage, a virtue he described as essential to confront the difficulties not only of the administration of justice, but throughout of the Christian life.
“For Christians, this virtue, which in difficulties, together with fortitude, ensures perseverance in the search for good and enables us to face the test, does not only represent a special quality of the soul characteristic of some heroic people. It is rather a trait that is given and strengthened in the encounter with Christ, as a fruit of the action of the Holy Spirit that anyone can receive, if he invokes him, ” explained this Saturday, February 2 before an audience of magistrates at the service of the Holy See.
This virtue, Pope Francis stated, “confuses the corrupt and puts them in a corner, with their hearts closed and hardened.” He also described it as “a humble force” that is expressed “in the ability to act with patience and perseverance, rejecting internal and external conditioning that hinders the realization of good.”
