“At the university a greater passion must pulsate, a common search for truth must be noted, a horizon of meaning, and all this lived in a community of knowledge where the generosity of love, so to speak, is palpable.”
Along these lines, he highlighted that “we cannot entrust the management of our universities to fear,” and regretted that “unfortunately this happens more frequently than we think.” For Pope Francis, “fear devours the soul.”
“Do not allow a Catholic university to limit itself to replicating the typical walls of the society in which we live: those of inequality, dehumanization, intolerance and indifference, of so many models that seek to reinforce individualism and not “They invest in fraternity.”
The Holy Father also asked them to help the Church “to illuminate the deepest human aspirations with the reasons of intelligence and the reasons of hope” and “to dialogue without fear about the great contemporary issues.”
