Present at the blessing was the Metropolitan Archbishop of Astana (Kazakhstan), Mons. Tomasz Peta, who in statements to Vatican News described what this already traditional act was like.
The prelate highlighted the joy of the Holy Father and noted that “the blessing of the bell was very familiar and personal.”
“The Pope, together with the children, rang the first bell. It was a great event, because the issue of defending life until natural death is a global problem,” he added.
