“Only in God do we find the light of life,” said Pope Francis before praying the Sunday Angelus with the thousands of faithful gathered in St. Peter’s Square, with whom he shared his reflection on the figure of Saint John the Baptist.
“The example of John the Baptist teaches us at least two things. Firstly, we, alone, cannot save ourselves: only in God do we find the light of life. And, secondly, that each one of us, with service, coherence, humility, with the testimony of life – and always with the grace of God – can be a shining lamp and help others find the way to meet Jesus.”, assured the Holy Father.
According to the Vatican Gendarmerie, this Sunday some 22,000 people gathered in front of the balcony of the Apostolic Palace, to whom the Pontiff indicated that Saint John the Baptist—whose mission the Gospel of the Third Sunday of Advent speaks of—“is certainly an extraordinary man.” ”.
