The Vatican Press Office reported this December 12, the Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe, that Pope Francis appointed priest Juan Carlos Londoño, of the clergy of the Archdiocese of Medellín, as the new Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Quebec (Canada).
With this appointment, Bishop Londoño will serve under the authority of Cardinal Gérald Cyprien Lacroix, Archbishop of Quebec; and together with the other Auxiliary Bishop, Mons. Marc Pelchat.
In a note Published on the Archdiocese website, Cardinal Lacroix expresses his joy for this appointment at the beginning of the jubilee year for the 350 years of the jurisdiction, and considers it “a sign from the Lord for receiving a missionary bishop. We were born from a great missionary impulse and we want to continue being a missionary diocese because the proclamation of the Gospel is always a great challenge for our time.”
