Mons. Filippo Ciampanelli, who on several recent occasions has read Pope Francis’ speeches in public when he had health problems, is as of this Monday, April 15, the new undersecretary of the Dicastery for the Eastern Churches.
Ciampanelli was born in Novara (Italy) on July 30, 1078 and has been dedicated to Vatican diplomacy since 2009. He currently works in the Council of the Nunciature, in the General Affairs Section of the Secretariat of State.
According to the Press Office of the Holy See, Monsignor Ciampanelli received priestly ordination on June 21, 2003, incardinating himself in the diocese of his hometown.
