Pope Francis has appointed Bishop Thaddeus Wang Yuesheng as the new bishop of Zhengzhou, in the province of Henan (China), a diocese that has remained vacant for seventy years.
Although the Holy Father appointed the bishop on December 16, complying with the Provisional Agreement between the Holy See and China, this new designation was not known until this Thursday, January 25, the day on which Bishop Yuesheng was consecrated.
As reported by the Holy See Press Office, the new bishop was born in Zhumadian (Henan) on February 27, 1966.
