This Saturday, Pope Francis encouraged members of the Verona Catholic Foundation (Italy) to continue “always doing good and for everyone” and recalled that, when money is put at the service of human dignity, the only thing that is obtained is true profit.
“I encourage you to move forward, always doing good and for everyone. Doing something, not standing still; good, doing good; and for all, doing good to all. It’s a good life plan! Always do good, because perseverance rewards those who work faithfully,” he said on January 18.

The Catholic Foundation of Verona, whose delegation was received this Saturday at the Apostolic Palace of the Vatican, supports those who seek innovative and sustainable solutions for social needs. Invest in nonprofit organizations, offering financial contributions and trusted relationships to do good.
In his speech, Pope Francis recognized all the initiatives of solidarity for those most in need, support for volunteering and cultural and professional training to which the members of the Foundation are dedicated. “I especially praise those aimed at supporting families and young people in collaboration with the Diocese of Verona,” he added.
The use of money “in the service of human dignity”
The Holy Father also highlighted the importance of using money responsibly. “Let us not forget that money yields more when it is invested for the benefit of others,” he said.
“Currently there is a very bad situation with investments. In some countries, the investments that generate the highest returns are weapons factories: investing to kill. They are crazy! This is not for the benefit of the people. And when this is done, against or apart from the benefit of the people, money ages and weighs on the heart, hardening it and making it deaf to the voice of the poor,” he commented firmly.
The Pope continued, insisting that wealth must be put at the service of human dignity. “When we put wealth at the service of human dignity, we can only win, always: in fact, promoting the common good improves the bonds of the society in which we participate,” he added.
In the face of educational and labor emergencies, the Pope urged us to constantly renew trust in Providence, who “guides history with love.”
“I bless you from the bottom of my heart and keep up the good work; Do it because this is sowing the future, it is sowing happiness, it is sowing peace. And pray for me, don’t forget: but pray for me, not against me. Thank you,” he concluded.
