Political crisis in Peru: President of the Episcopate calls for the unity of the powers of the State

In an Easter message, Bishop Miguel Cabrejos, president of the Peruvian Episcopal Conference (CEP), urged the powers of the State, institutions and citizens to unite to resolve the prolonged political crisis that affects the country.

“I call on the powers of the State, as well as the political forces and the justice bodies to establish bridges of collaboration, sincere dialogue, coordinated and articulated work between the different levels of the government; to the balance and balance of powers for the sake of strengthening our democracy, the governability and political and social stability of our country,” he urged in a statement issued on March 31.

Bishop Cabrejos, also Archbishop of Trujillo, recognized that the Easter joy contrasts with the difficult situations that Peru is currently going through. Specifically, he refers to recent events related to tax investigations and judicial decisions that have shaken the country, generating uncertainty and division in society.
