The bishops of the Permanent Council of the Peruvian Episcopal Conference (CEP) have made an urgent call to the authorities to seek the common good in the face of the political crisis that the country is experiencing, reflected in the “constant deterioration of institutionality and governance.”
In the words of the bishops, this crisis is due to “the struggle within and between the powers of the state and with the autonomous constitutional bodies.”
In a statement issued on March 6, within the framework of Lent, the CEP urged authorities and citizens to seek effective solutions to various problems. Among them, health, education, violence, illegal economies and the preservation of the Amazon stand out, all issues that “have us in permanent anxiety and affect our society, families and each citizen.”
