Pilgrim Virgin of the Desamparados visits areas affected by DANA in Valencia

The pilgrim Virgin of the Desamparados, begins this Thursday a tour of the municipalities most affected by the floods caused by a DANA (isolated atmospheric depression at high levels) on October 29 and which ended more than 200 lives, in addition to destroying thousands of houses and belongings.

The pilgrimage of the Virgin will begin in the towns most affected by the floods such as Paiporta, Picaña and Torrente.

On Thursday, November 28, the image of the patron saint of Valencia will arrive at the parish of La Inmaculada de Paiporta at 3:00 p.m. (local time). From there, he will go to the parish of San Ramón, where the Rosary will be prayed and a supplication for the deceased will take place.

Also in Paiporta, a Mass will be celebrated in the parish of San Jorge, at 4:30 p.m., after which a vigil will begin that will last until 9:00 p.m.

On Friday the 29th, one month after the tragedy, another Eucharist will be celebrated at noon in Paiporta and, after a tour through the streets of the town in a specially adapted vehicle, the image of the Virgin of the Forsaken will arrive in Picaña.

A prayer meeting will be held in front of the parish of Our Lady of Montserrat, where the deceased will be remembered and hope will be given to those affected.

Transfer on the shoulders of the pilgrim image

In the afternoon, the delegation will travel to Torrente and its district of Masía del Juez. A moment of prayer will take place in the parish of San Vicente Ferrer.

Depending on the circumstances, it is planned that the carving of the pilgrim Virgin of the Forsaken will be carried on shoulders to the esplanade of the Fuente San Luis, where it will meet again with the faithful in a moment of prayer and consolation.

A new stop will be made at the bridge that leads to the Xenillet neighborhood, especially hit for being next to the ravine through which the deadly waters arrived. From there it will go to the Good Council parish, where a Eucharist will also be celebrated.

And “White Friday” to help those affected by the floods

Among the many organizations and groups that are dedicating efforts to helping those affected by the floods is the Aute association, of Valencian origin, made up of young Catholics and led by the influencer Quique Mira.

The association markets its own line of youth clothing that aims to “literally wear” the message of Jesus and has decided to donate 100% of the profits from the Christmas campaign to those affected by DANA.

This initiative starts this week when the Black Friday, although they prefer to call it White Friday, in which you can find clothes with messages like “Thank God I didn’t find what I was looking for, but what I had to find.”

In addition, it has allocated 100% of the donations received in October and November through its “impulsores” project.

For their part, two young people from Regnum Christi, Marina Lozano and María Pardo, have launched the Letters of Hope initiative, which aims to “maintain hope among the victims, who will accumulate physical, mental and spiritual fatigue as they “Let the weeks go by,” according to Lozano. in a statement disseminated by the institution.

María Pardo emphasizes that “it is also important that many young people from outside Valencia want to collaborate, but we do not know how to do it” and thanks to this initiative “we have the opportunity to directly reach those affected with our affection.
