The Holy See press office indicated in a statement issued on Sunday night in Rome that the Pontiff’s condition “remains critical”, although it has not experienced “any other respiratory crisis” since Saturday.

“Recover soon so you can hug you.”

During the weekend, the Pope received dozens of school recovery cards in Rome, who encouraged him to recover soon and sent him messages of love and healing.

“I hope you get better soon and leave the hospital,” said another message.

Some of the greetings included creative illustrations, such as a drawing by Blessed Carlo Acutis and a 3D representation of Pope Francis opening the Holy Gate of the Basilica of San Pedro.

The Vatican reported Sunday that the Holy Father “remains lucid and well oriented” and continues to receive oxygen therapy “at high flow” through the nose.
