As part of his visit to Peru, Mons. Jordi Bertomeu, official of the Vatican Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, recently gave two conferences on the prevention of abuse in the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Arequipa, in the south of the country.
In a statement released by the Archdiocese of Arequipa, Bishop Bertomeu was invited by the Archbishop of Arequipa, Bishop Javier del Río, to give lectures on “The culture of prevention according to Pope Francis: a response as believers to the crisis of abuse in the Church”, on March 7 and 8.
Bishop Bertomeu is in Peru from March 4 to 12. According information released by the Archbishopric of Limathe Vatican official is in the country to evaluate the “canonical investigation in the diocesan phase” carried out by the archdiocese of the Peruvian capital to the institute of consecrated life of diocesan law Pro Ecclesia Sancta on “alleged financial irregularities.”
