The Latin patriarchy of Jerusalem warned about a scam in which criminals supplant the identity of Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa with an email that is not yours.
“The Cardinal.pizzaballa@gmail.com address is being used by a hacker that is made by cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa,” said the patriarchy in a note published in its website on August 3.

“Keep in mind that it is not your email address,” he says.
The patriarchy of Jerusalem also recommends that “if you have received any message from this address, do not answer, do not click any link and do not share personal information.”
Who is Cardinal Pizzaballa?
Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, one of the cardinals who chose Pope Leo XIV in the May conclave, is the most important Catholic bishop of the Holy Land.
The purple of Italian origin is 60 years old and was, between 2004 and 2016, the Franciscan custodian of the Holy Land.
On many occasions he has made calls to peace, high fire and dialogue to end war between Israel and Hamas.
He recently visited, with the Orthodox patriarch of Jerusalem, the Sacred Family parish, the only Catholic Church in Gaza, led by the Argentine priest Gabriel Romanelli, who suffered a bombing by the Israeli forces on July 17.
After his visit, the purple has requested that the entry of humanitarian aid in Gaza be allowed to deal with the food crisis in the area.
