The parish of Nuestra Señora del Buen Suceso in Madrid celebrates for the first time this Friday a Rock Mass, composed of versions of original songs composed by Bod Dylan, Coldplay, the Bee Gees, Don Mc Lean or Los Brincos, among others.
The parish priest, Father Enrique González Torres, affirms in conversation with ACI Prensa that “it is not a ‘concert-mass’, which would be a sacrilege. It is a Mass” and, although he recognizes that in principle it is not a format that is close to him, he defends that “we priests must sometimes follow the intuitions of our parishioners.”
In this sense, he highlights as positive “the concept of a Mass that can attract people not accustomed” to experiencing the Eucharist. Furthermore, he remembers, it is not something so exceptional, since Pope Francis himself celebrated a Creole Mass in the Vatican in 2014.
