Online course for priests to truthfully welcome people with same-sex attraction

Priests around the world will have a special opportunity to receive free training to “respectfully, compassionately and gently welcome” people with same-sex attractions, in a virtual course organized by the Courage International apostolate.

This new edition of the online course, aimed exclusively at priests and permanent deacons, will take place on Monday, November 3 of this year, and includes both training in the teachings of the Catholic Church on homosexuality as well as the testimony of a member of the apostolate.

In addition to questions and answers, the participation of a couple who are part of EnCourage, a program dedicated to family and friends of people with same-sex attraction, is planned to participate.

The course will take place from 10:00 am in Mexico City and Central America, 11:00 am in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru; 1:00 pm from Argentina and Brazil; 5:00 pm from Spain.

In the United States, you can participate in the course from 8:00 am in Los Angeles, California; in Chicago at 10:00 am; and in New York and Miami at 11:00 am

Among the course panelists are Rossana Goñi-Cuba, coordinator of Courage and EnCourage in Spanish; and Fr. Víctor Luna, LC, Courage chaplain in Italy.

In the invitation to the course, Courage highlights that the panelists “will explain the teachings of the Catholic Church regarding homosexuality and will present a series of guidelines and advice for the adequate pastoral accompaniment of these brothers of ours, in the light of truth, charity and mercy.”
