Corventhe Argentine group recognized for being one of the leaders in motorcycle sales behind Honda, will begin selling cars in the country.
Starting next month, the company will add to its vast range of products made up of six motorcycle brands, three truck brands, in addition to auto parts and tires, a Medium SUV of Chinese origin.
Its about DFSK Glory 580a model that is already marketed in other countries in the region and is characterized by its configuration with three rows of seats and capacity for seven occupants.
This launch could mark the starting point for future arrivals of DFSK (Dongfeng Sokon) SUVs, although this can only be confirmed at the presentation event to be held next 5th June.
One thing to keep in mind is that DFSK already had a presence in Argentina. A few years ago it arrived in the country with the Socma Group (Chery), a company that only markets its line of urban trucks and vans.
Features of the Glory 580
Marketed in Uruguay, Peru, Chile and Colombia, the DFSK 580 Glory will be a new option among SUVs with three rows of seats.
It measures 4.68 meters long (it has a 2.78 meter wheelbase), 1.85 meters wide, while the trunk capacity with the three active rows of seats is 375 dm3 (this volume can be expanded up to 2,215 dm3).
While the mechanical configuration has not yet been confirmed, the Glory 580 is offered with one or two gasoline engines. On the one hand, a 1.5-liter turbo, which delivers a power of 143 horsepower and is associated with a six-speed manual gearbox or a CVT-type automatic transmission.
On the other hand, by a set made up of a 1.8-liter 131 HP and a five-speed manual or CVT automatic transmission. In all cases, the traction system is simple.
According to the catalogs of those markets, the DFSK Glory 580 offers four airbags, stability control, hill start assist and electric power steering as standard, but in no case does it have driving assistance systems (ADAS).
Corven Group
Founded as Grupo Iraola in 1969, in the city of Venado Tuerto, province of Santa Fe, the firm currently represents the motorcycle brands Corven, Mondial, Kawasaki, Kymco, Bajaj and Triumph in the country; Foton, Zanella Truck and Corven Buses (utilities); more than 13 brands of auto parts and four brands of tires, highlighting the brand of the same name and Dunlop.
In 2023, the group closed as the second largest motorcycle seller behind Honda, with Corven being the conglomerate’s best seller (third behind Honda and Motomel).
Currently, the group has four plants: two in Venado Tuerto (one dedicated to the production of motorcycles and the other to auto parts), one in Córdoba (motorcycles) and another in Caseros, province of Buenos Aires (trucks).
