Nuevo Laredo cathedral vandalizes in Mexico

The cathedral of the Holy Spirit of Nuevo Laredo, in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas, was vandalized during the weekend with painted on its facade and in an image of Madonna Bianca (Blanca Virgin).

The parish priest of the cathedral, P. César Fernando López Rentería, reported in a statement that on Sunday, February 2 at dawn, “an act of vandalism (an act of vandalism (Graffiti) that was perpetrated in the facilities of our temple. ”

The priest regretted what happened and said that it is not the only church that has been the victim of these acts recently.

“We have learned that we are not the only ones that we have suffered from this type of vandalism act, they will never be justified. We ask God to help and illuminate those who did it, ”said the pastor.

He also announced that an act of relief will be carried out to repair the offense, especially against the image of the Madonna BiancA, located outside the temple and that, according to the statement, also suffered damage.

The Diocese of Nuevo Laredo condemned “vigorously the facts of vandalism” and said they threaten “against the values ​​that our sacred spaces and our community represent.”

According to the diocese, the authorities are already aware of the facts and are taking the corresponding actions, while the Government of Nuevo Laredo collaborated in the cleaning of the graffiti.

“From our faith, we call for reflection and prayer: pray for this act of relief, for the restoration of peace and by people who, unfortunately, have been lost in their actions,” said the diocesan statement.

Finally, he urged all citizens to “be signs of peace and mutual respect in our city, always looking for the common good.”
