On May 13 of each year we celebrate the Virgin of Fátima. This is, without a doubt, one of the most known, loved and celebrated dates in the Christian world.
That day we remember the first of the apparitions of the Mother of God to three humble shepherd children – Lucía dos Santos and her cousins Francisco and Jacinta Marto – in the hills of Cova de Iría (Portugal), in 1917. Sister Lucía is in the process of beatification , while Francisco and Jacinta were canonized by Pope Francis on May 13, 2017, one hundred years after the apparitions.
A beautiful tradition of the Church invites the faithful to prepare during the nine days prior to the celebration. For this reason, we share with you below the novena to the Virgin of Fátima. You can pray it as a family, in community or personally:
