Every August 18, the novena begins to Saint Monica, the mother of Saint Augustine and patron saint of mothers and wives, model for Christian mothers.
Of this great saint, Pope Francis said in 2013: “How many tears did that holy woman shed for the conversion of her son! And how many mothers today also shed tears so that their own children may return to Christ! “Do not lose hope in the grace of God!”

Saint Monica prayed and offered sacrifices constantly for the conversion of her husband, who was a violent and womanizing man. Years later God granted him this wish and Patricio was baptized.
He also prayed for 15 years for the conversion of his son Augustine, who was leading a libertine life.
