Saint Luke did not know Jesus, but he did know Saint Paul, of whom he was a disciple. He is the only non-Israelite New Testament writer who addressed his message to Gentile Christians.
It is said that he was a doctor, but he also knew letters – his language was Greek – and some arts such as painting.
