The name “Judas” comes from the Hebrew “Yehuda”, which means “praise be given to God.” The name “Tadeo”, which comes from Aramaic, means “the brave one”, “a man with a robust chest.” The composition of the names “Judas” and “Tadeo” forming a unit most likely responds to the need to differentiate him from the other “Judas”, who betrayed Jesus.
Saint Brigid of Sweden (1303-1373) wrote in her work Revelations that the Lord Jesus exhorted her to ask for favors and graces through the intercession of Saint Jude Thaddeus. This is the main reason why devotion to this Apostle has penetrated so deeply among the Catholic people. He is considered a miraculous saint.
