Every August 6, the novena begins for the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, a holiday that the Catholic Church celebrates on August 15.
“How I wish that everywhere and in all languages the joy for the Assumption of Mary!… May every man and woman become aware of being called, through different paths, to participate in the heavenly glory of their true Mother and Queen,” said Saint John Paul II in 1995.
